Marie and Guy

Marie and Guy are two of our friends who also happen to be models, and i asked them if they would help me out for a shoot I had in mind involving the Aud that is being demolished in Buffalo.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Buffalo history, the Memorial Auditorium or “Aud” is being torn down to make way for waterfront redevelopment.  I wanted to get some “wedding” pictures there before it was gone and Marie and Guy offered to help out.  We had a great time and one of the foreman for the job actually let us behind the fence for a few shots!  I think these are a great addition to our growing protfolio.

Kelli and Pete

I work with Kelli at my day job and she is getting married in a few weeks, we were talking one night and she mentioned that she had wished she had done an engagement shoot with her wedding photographer (who she booked before she met me haha) and I offered to do a shoot with them.  She called her Fiance’ and we booked a night at a park close to our office.  I had a great time walking around with these two, taking pictures and laughing.  They are so in love and I think it shows in the pictures.

A great shoot!

I had a blast with “T” in the studio a few days ago!  He was so annimated and not shy at all!  Everytime I took a picture he changed his pose!  That’s better than some of the adult models we work with!  T is a natural in front of the camera.  I have included a collage in this post to show you what I am talking about…the collage shows 9 consecutive images straight out of the camera with no prompting from me.  I love it!

Trash the Dress!

First let me say, I have some pretty great friends and family!  I have been wanting to do a “Trash the Dress” shoot for a while now, but I lacked a model and a dress for the shoot!

A little history about what a “Trash the Dress” (TTD) shoot is all about…

TTD is a new trend in wedding photography where a bride (and sometimes the groom) will want to do pictures that they might not have been able to do on their wedding day because of stress or fear of getting the dress dirty.  It allows the bride to be herself and show off her dress in ways she wouldn’t normally be able to pull off.  Maybe she wants to go the beach and play in the sand and the waves, ride a horse, or go in a more urban direction and find some abandoned building to pose in.  Whatever the location, it normally gives your wedding pictures a more “you” perspective.  Most of the time we never even get close to “Trashing” the dress, sometimes it just gets a little dirty.  But brides seem to love it because as one lady said to me “I’m never going to use this dress again, so why not have some fun with it?”

It’s definatly not for everyone, but for those of us who would like the opportunity to rock that wedding frock it’s a great option!

This past weekend my cousin Michele was in town and like me, she is normally down for just about anything, so I asked if she would be willing to model for me and she said yes!   So now we just had to find a wedding dress, and my friend Kristy came to the rescue and donated her wedding dress to the cause!  Now we were off and running!  We got Michele ready at the studio, made phonecalls to parents and friends to let them know this wasn’t a shotgun wedding and we were off!  Enjoy the pics!  We had a blast!

The R’s

I had an opportunity to shoot a large family this past weekend and we had a great time exploring Beaver Island State Park together.  Towards the end of the shoot we had the adults climbing trees because the kids didn’t know how!  The adults  couldn’t believe it!  So of course we had to step in and show the kids how it was done!  It was a great time with lots of laughs, thanks to the “R” Family for sharing their evening with me!RohrbackFamily010

Boppy’s 90th Birthday!

As mentioned in the previous post, we flew home last weekend for two birthdays.  I posted Mark Allen’s pics a few days ago, and here are a few snapshots from Boppy’s Birthday.   Lots of old friends, a proclamation from his son, the Mayor of Aberdeen, and a flag flown over the capitol in his honor were just a few of the awards and presentations that day.

Baby Ava!

This past weekend I had the chance to photograph Baby Ava!  She is so precious!  Most babies sleep for the entire session, but Ava was wide awake for everything!  Her big sister posed with her for a few shoots and they were both naturals.  Brian and I had a great time, thank you for welcoming us into your home so soon after her arrival!  Enjoy the pics!

Mark Allen’s 3rd Birthday

This past weekend flew home to Maryland to celebrate two birthdays!  First we had Mark Allen’s 3rd birthday on Saturday and then Boppy’s 90th birthday on Sunday!  I will start with Mark Allen’s…we got the party started at Chuck E. Cheese, where my mom jumped in on the fun and hopped on the carousel!  Classic.  Then we headed back to Matt and Jenn’s for a Bar-B-Q and frisbee with the fam, I took a few snapshots of the day…enjoy!

Taylor and Bella

Saturday morning I had the chance to go photograph Taylor, Bella and Mommy and Daddy at their gorgeous new home on Grand Island!  What a beautiful family.  Taylor has the cutest platinum curls and Bella has the best baby cheeks I have seen in a long time!   Taylor(the oldest) is going through a very independent phase right now and didn’t like to pose for the camera, but when she saw how much attention Bella was getting  she decided to cooperate and I think we got some great shots!

I have included one of the family shots to show an example of post-processing that is available.  The first Image is the original, second would be Clean Black and White, and third would be an example of Antiquing.

Alexis

Friday night we had a shoot with Alexis!  She was very shy at first, but then her mom ran to the car to get her tiara and she opened right up!  I turned around to fix the lighting set-up and when I turnedback  around she had swapped out the original chair with one she liked better and re-posed herself!  So cute!  After that our little super-model was suggesting poses, picking outfits and props and just generally having a good time!  Thanks for a great shoot Alexis!
